Western Weddings Done In Western Tradition
Have you ever thought about western weddings and all of the accessories that one would need to make the biggest day of their life spectacular? Everyone dreams of their wedding gown and the flowers they will want at their wedding but are aisle runners a part of the dream wedding? You bet they are! There are so many items that need to be considered when planning a wedding. Almost too many items to consider Let's take a look and see what western weddings may need. From the most obvious to the least thought about.
The location may be the first thing you decide on. This will be the backdrop for your western wedding. Find a barn that you may be able to rent out. Even a local steakhouse may have an outside courtyard that you could rent for your big day.
Invitations and announcements can be printed with western style print on old west paper. The word 'hitched' is used many times when referring to getting married. Why not use it when wording your invitation?
You engagement party can be held at a local western bar or steakhouse. Make sure you have the country western music playing so your guests can get into the celebrating mood. Decorate with bails of hay and serve any kind of BBQ with lots of Ranch beans! The rehearsal dinner can be held in the same setting. Be sure to thank your wedding party with beer mugs engraved with their names.
The groom's tuxedo and the bride's dress can be found in many western styles and will be the focal point for western weddings. Old fashion lace can really make a dress look western and bolo ties on the groom will bring out the old west. Glass slippers may be what every girl dreams of but western cowboy boots for both the bride and groom may do the trick.
Be sure to choose flowers that are available in the west. Obviously tropical flowers are out of the question for western weddings. Place the flowers in mason jars or small galvanized buckets to keep the western theme going.
A horse drawn wagon that transports the wedding party or even the guests to the reception will be sure to be a huge hit. This may not be possible for everyone, but a great idea none the less.
The reception is where the square dancing should be found. Make sure that you have lots of country and western music playing all night. Serve BBQ and fried chicken to your guests. Checked table cloths might make it less formal but will add a nice touch to the western theme.
So, we didn't touch base on the aisle runners but who wants to think about that right now when dreams of glass slippers or cowboy boots are running through your head? With a lot of careful planning, your western wedding will be a wedding that Wyatt Earp and Josephine Marcus Earp would be proud of!
